I opened my substack in some downtime while working at my church today and there was your story! What a great take. Same day - I was learning about the miracles of christ, a deep dive into the holy healing power of the spirit.

Is there real rivalry between branches of churches in the USA ?

Where does that Joel Olstien guy I see on TV fit in ?

I'm totally uneducated on the state of Christianity outside my small bubble.

You seem to be someone very educated on these matters.

Keturah, have you read Rod Dreher's book: 'Living in Wonder, Finding Mystery and Meaning in a Secular Age'?

I'd like to read your review, if so.

Ha! I'm reading that book right now and was going to recommend it to Keturah!

I have not!! I'm only vaguely familiar with Dreher's work

You have piqued my interest! Adding this book to my wish list. Until now I had admittedly unconsciously categorized the levitation of saints in the middle ages as "medieval silliness", like those images you see of animals that look disfigured or have human faces. Hildegard talking about unicorns, and all that.

I dismissed them in the same way -- but this book changed my mind on all that and also was the final nail to my deciding to want to be Catholic. It's very persuasive!

I read this a few years ago. Fascinating book. I was impressed he took these phenomena seriously. I enjoyed your review. Thank you
